A total of 4 screws will take it off.

1) Two large phillips head screws screwed in horizontally, one on each side of the front of the seat bottom. Remove them, pull the seat bottom out.

2) Tilt theseat back forward, two screws near the bottom of the back panel of the seat. Maybe torx or phillips, I don't remember. Take tham off. put the seat back in the normal position. Slide the back seat cushion down and out.

That's it.

This is actually a rather complicated system due to the fact that there is a seat and mirror position memory controller involved. Can you move your rear view and side view mirrors? They are also part of that system.

The screws for the seat back are a bit difficult to locate. But if you get them out, the seat cushion will come off with a bit of a tug.

These seats were used in an awful lot of different Mercedes models over many years. Check with a salvage yard and you should have no problem locating some used components to fix your seats. Also, try posting a request for the electrical diagram. Hard to believe that wires melted before fuses blew.

A wrecker/Breaker in the US would be a good start, buying new from a dealer will require the purchase of a hack saw to supply the arm and leg they require as payment.

If you can source the motor, the wrecker should have the wreck, in which case you can source as much of the original wiring loom with the correct connectors fitted. Don't be shy when sourcing original cable, follow it as far back as you can to a joint or to a point where it's out of sight in the dash and not subject to compression, stress, dampness or where the joint is visible to inspection and would reveal to all and sundy that beastie had a barbeque in it's past. Hope that helps.
