560sl differential leak

My 1986 560sl with 120.000miles has a leak on differential housing. Mecnically everything is ok with differential just the leak that is no small but rather big.

Any knowledge what should be done or what parts should be changed within differential to stop the leak?

Thanks,

Balsa

Make sure the vent is not clogged which can help to blow a gasket.

Should be a small vent with a cap on it on one side of the differential on top of the axle tube. On most Mercedes I've seen, it's on the driver's side. It can get clogged. It typically unscrews with about a 17mm wrench. Take it off and clean it up and make sure it is venting like it should. Very easy to find and a very easy job.

Vent cleaning is an easy job. However rear end dissasembly is a different story. I had my indie do mine, after I did a little research. Seems rear axle removal differs a little for different year models. Best to study up before you tackle it.
