Replacing Air & Cabin Filters?
Hi,
Newbe here. 2001 SL600, I have looked at the air inlets and the metal snap clips. Unsnaping them does not seem to release much of anything. How do I replace the air filters? Please help me locate the cabin filter and let me know how to replace it. As you might know the dealer must be on drugs for what they want for the "B" service on this car, $450. LOF, AIR filters (not cabin) Inspection... They told me $85 for LOF (a bargin) or $150 for "A" LOF + inspection. I think I can replace the filters with a little help from you. Thanks! On my 96 SL600, you push the clips to the outside, and them pull out the plastic housing that it is holding onto. I hope that helps... Let me see if I can dig up some pics to illustrte this.
As for the cabin filter, I didn't know it had one. Perhaps someone who has changed it could help you....

The cabin filter is next to the windshield. two screws. Sometimes the air intake filters get stuck to the plastic housing and make it tough to get out, but they will come out. If you need any more info try a search.

The filter housing is the big rectangular plastic box in back of the engine. To remove there are two long phillips thru screws and approx. four clips on the front, it hinges on the rear.
