450SLC Fuel Injector holder replacement

450 SLC The other day I decide to replace the holders and seals the my fuel injectors. It wouldn't budge by hand and I had to take the pliers to the plastic and pry the first one out, being brittle it shatter onto pieces. I sunctioned any debris that might have fallen in the hole, but stopped after the first one. Is there any secret I missed to do this easier, or is that normal when their old?

Not normal, but not unusal either. They are plastic and have been exposed to a lot of heat.

Did you pull the valve covers, plastic hoses and fuel injectors first? Try twisting them first before you try to pull them out. The plastic holders only help seal for air and there is not apparent value to changing them unless one is leaking. They really have to be changed when replacing the injectors because some can brake. All the rubber O rings should be changed along with the rubber hoses that feed the air. The hoses get so brittle I can't see being able to do a good job re-using any plastic or rubber component. Hope this helps (MHO, Steve's amateur hour.)
