Exhaust O Ring

Hi all:

I tried two pairs of O-rings from different shops and both pairs have split in a very short timeframe. This is the O-ring pair that holds up the muffler. Will buying the rings from Mercedes make a difference?

I am surprised that they are breaking so quickly. The rubber hangers for the 560SL have a steel wire core which should last longer.

I bet you are buying the solid rubber rings. The SL takes the steel reinforced style that nobby mentioned. My parts guy said the solid rubber rings won't stand up to the weight of the exhaust system, and the steel reinforced are a must. They are pricer but necessary.

They were plain solid rubber rings. Will make a trip to mercedes.
