Interesting how offset the oil and temp gauges are as opposed to other 450's ...they're lower than usual and shifted. I wonder if new gauges were put on that car from a w126 or soemthing.

Oh well...whatever lights your fire

I have to say that I actually like it, if he lost the rear spoiler and put some deep BBS split rims on instead!

Other than the rear wing and color, it's really pretty decent, although I wouldn't have it; the workmanship looks good. I think workmanship is 90% of the whole effect. From the work I did with fiberglass years ago, before there was air, anyone can make fiberglass look good on a car when it's new. If after driving 20K miles through at least one winter without cracking, and it still looks good, that's workmanship.

I was at a car show recently where some kids had done an entire Toyota Supra console, dash, and door panels in fiberglass; I asked them where they got it and they told me that they made the pieces. Darned impressive, and excellent workmanship. It gave me hope for the future.

This car is only about 20 miles from me and I'm thinking about having a look.

I agree with POS, I don't like it, and Idon't think Bruno Sacco or Paul Bracq would either. Purple isn't my favorite Mercedes color either. Maybe it was an interesting styling exercise, and the workmanship is good, but those side strakes, hood scoop and the wing just don't seem to "work", this job should have stayed on paper...

The R107 design was a classic, as were previous SL iterations before it.

The most visually offensive thing on those cars is one of those aluminum wings. Ineffective and not useful except possibly when going over a cliff.

I don't like it per se... but I do appreciate the time, effort and $$$$ that went into it. Those stupid spoilers/wings should be banned from ANYONE using them on ANY car.
