1979 450 Sl Ac/heater Blower Motor

I have a 79 450 SL.The AC cools but makes a terrible noise that I was recently told was due to the blower motor. I checked online but a new one is around $400. I was wondering how difficult it would be to remove the motor and lubricate it myself. Anyone out that tried that ?

I haven't done it on mine yet, but it is fairly easy to do - the heater motor is beneath the black plastic cover in the center of the firewall area. Remove the cover and the pump is underneath. I think if you search on "Heater Motor", you will find several threads addressing the problem.
