Rotory polish and picture
Hi all
Just wanted to share my excitement with you all as I've recently had my 129 professionally rotary polished and polymer sealed. I asked for the badge to be removed in preparation of my new 'SL 500' badge which I placed on the rear yesterday (will add a piccy latter). The work consisted of: 1. Underneath steam clean 2. Engine clean (not steam) and panel lubrication (makes panels go a nice black) 3. Wash and wax 4. 4 x rotary polishes (apparently it took 4 attempts) 5. Scratches removed or touched in as and where necessary 6. Flat and polish rear bumper sides as upon last spray (when colour matched) they showed slight signs of 'orange peel' where the paint when a little 'dry'. 7. Polymer sealant The result is truly awesome and has been one of the jobs well worth the money - cost 200GBP Mind you, next time I may go for the Porter Cable orbital polisher as for around 200 I can do the polishing myself Lea

Looks great! What products did they use for the wax and polymer seal?

That's a lot of money but a good investment in the car, so it's well spent
The Porter Cable polishers are supposed to work VERY well I am told What mystifies us are the "cherished" number plates that sell for silly money in the UK..it looks like your SL sports one of these. Those plates are widely available in the USA through the State Dept. of Motor vehicles in all states, and are very inexpensive, and any plate without sexual, racial or offensive meanings are easily available

Hi Guys
Thanks for the kind comments. Before the polish I was seriously contemplating a complete respray (excluding bottom colour coded sections) but my sprayer persuaded me that all she really needs is some careful attention with a rotary. The polymer spray is manufactured by Wurth: http://www.wurth.co.uk/cat.php?section=03&search=polymer The wax I'm not sure, but it was a liquid based product as it came in a 5 litre 'industrial' looking container. oh, and water for the steam BTW - mine isn't classed as a 'cherished' plate but just an inexpensive one I couldn't afford the one shown on my car in the forum! Lea
