Question 90 300sl- rear brakes smoking, ac vent direction

2 problems, at speeds in excess of 90mph the rear brakes overheat and actually smoke. the a/c will only blow from the defroster vent no matter which vents are selected. Any help out there?

I think the flap that is supposed to change the flow pattern is either broken or missing.

And something in the rear brakes is dragging. Either you have a stuck caliper, or your parking brakes are stuck.

sticking brakes and a/c direction

The door is there, but doesn't move correctly. It worked fine untill I changed the blower motor. Someone said there is a sequence of buttons on the controls that will reprogram the a/c system to direct the flow.

I checked the e-brake several times, it's off. When this happens I reverse the car,tap the brakes several times and then drive 70 mph or so and it's ok. When this happens it's both rear wheels equally.

Thanks for the help, john

Your brake hoses may not be the cause and then again they might be, but if they are the original 16 year old hoses, it is time to replace them all.
