Sun Visor Removal

I need to install a new trim piece on the passenger side of my '99 SL500 that surrounds the visor post. The post seems to be held in place by a pressure fit lock washer, the 'starburst' kind. To get the visor removed, anybody know if you pry the washer out, or simply a stout pull to disengage the lock washer? Or does the visor. more simply. just slide off the bar?

TIA for your help for the mechanically challenged!

Bob

Not sure if a 91 129 is the same, but, on mine there was no washer. There are two fasteners though.

One you can see and remove to replace the trim; the other is behind the trim. Unscrew the accesable screw, then move the trim over, and remove the hidden screw.

To remove the visor, sort of rotate it toward you.

Fred, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure my visors are set up the same as yours either; I'll look in the morning.

I did remove the visible screw to get the trim piece loose and if there is a second 'hidden' one, the boys in Germany did a good job of hiding it-

On mine, it is behind the non-screw side of that trim piece.

The arm does fit up into a hole in the header (that's why it has to be sort of rotated to get it off). To get to the top of that, the two trim pieces around the top latch must be removed (remove screw, pull trim toward the outside of the car), then remmove the interior trim that those pieces trimmed (slides toward the rear of the car). Then you will see the visor arms along with your top hydraulics.
