Second time starter
My 87 560 SL never start the first time. In other words it start than dies right away. When you start it again its fine.
Now I have to depress the accelerator about a third for it to start the first time out. So is it a relay or a pump problem or else ??? Also when cold the engine is noisy until it warms up, like for one minute or about as if the auto choke is faulty. Am I right or the car just need more freeway exercise and a little Techron ??? Best regards to all, Lee

Sounds like your fuel accumulator is out.

Actually, I would first suspect the pressure regulator. It controls the fuel pressure until the O2 sensor has heated up enough. To find out what's really happening, you need some fuel pressure gauges and the engine manual. To understand how the fuel injection system works, you might try the book by Charles Probst, "Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management". It also has a troubleshooting guide.
