Vin

I don't know about the 280, but on my 450SL there are VIN numbers on the tag in the driver door frame, beneath the glass on the pillar on the driver side, and I think there is one on the cross member that connects the two fenders together and holds the radiator in place.

Hope this helps.

Your car should have a chassis number very clearly stamped on the crossmember in front of the radiator. To the left of center.

Think twice about taking that car to Europe unless it is 100% documented from day 1. After all, the Europeans invented bureaucracy.

...and the guillotine!
(just wanted to use that smiley )

My 280sl has the vin # as advised above

Steve,

I just bought same car as yours except 1983 model. Could you tell me what spark plugs type, oil type and oil filter you using? I have EPC but can not find this model. Where are you buying the parts for yours SL?

Thanks a lot

re: 280sl 107

Roman

I do very little work to my car.
I only change the oil and filter.
I use castrol 20/50.
I purchased the oil filter on the internet. I not sure of the item
number but its for the 110 engine. If you'd like i'll check the item no
but its a standard version. Its a paper filter that fits into the metal canister.
Just make sure that the big hole on the filter faces up towards the engine when installing.

Good luck with your car. I bought mine when it had your cars miles on the clock.
