WIS does not cover the 107 chassie. It's also very difficult to use. Fortunatly the EPC covers the 107's, but is also not very clear and will not show parts that are no longer available.

Uhm, you're quite right about the 107 - must admit never had the urge to search for 107 stuff and so not noticed!

WIS and EPC are a pain to use but you do get used to them over time ;-)

WIS & EPC...not available for early 107's as far as I know. So that is a moot point.

EPC covers all 107. WIS covers nothing in the 107 line.

I have a bogus MB CD-ROM, and a genuine manual set (chassis vol's 1 and 2) to compare against now; there is considerably more information in the manuals. When I had the shop resources (working in an engineering AND manufacturing facility), I used to have the shop cut the backs off of perfect-bound computer/programming books bound like these and I would rebind them with GBC (plastic combs) so that they would lay flat. These days, after shearing the back off, I'd feed the book into a duplexing scanner/printer/computer and scan to PDF at a very high resolution. If only I had the shear. I can't see how I could cut several hundred pages out of a book neatly so that they would feed into the scanner properly.

Just picked up a 116/117 engine manual for $20 on ebay. Who says you can't get a good deal.

Take the book to any good printing shop. They will have a shear that will cut the binding off for you. I bet they would do it for a reasonable cost.

paper copy of service manual, '91 500 SL

So, is it impossible to find a paper copy of a service manual for a 1991 500 SL for under $150 or a tank of gas, whichever is more these days??
