how to refinish a 129 grill?

the grill on my 129 is spotted and faded, but other wise straight.

i attempted to buff it w/mag wheel polish but it didnt change it much

anyone know how to refinish one and/or what they are made of and covered with?

thought i would try to restore it first since they are so expensive

also have seen "chrome "kits for grills on ebay, any one used one? how do they look and fit?

thanks

Ah, the R129 grille. As rumor has it, the grille strips (baffle plates if you are at the dealer) are made from leftover aluminum back from when mercedes was into aviation.

I do not know of anyway to buff or clean the grille of the R129. Mine has just sunfaded over the years, and now has a titanium look to it.
