The price for a new SL dropped significantly in 1995. I'm curious as to why this happened. Did Mercedes do anything to make the car less expensive, or did they just lower the price?

I believe they just lowered the price. BMW also made this move with their 750iL.

I know that the prices of the 4-seater convertibles dropped extremely with the new CLK convertible (when compared with the prices of the W124 convertible), but did the prices of the SL drop a lot in 1995? The prices hardly dropped here in europe...

SL Price Drop
The price for the 1995 500 SL dropped by about $10,000. It probably was a case of supply being greater than demand.I
think Dale is right that BMW and perhaps a few others might have also dropped prices.

Price drop in 1995 ob SL
I recall the dealer telling me (at the time I bought my 97 E320) that MB dropped the price on the SL to more competitive. He stated buyers who paid "full Boat" right before the price drop were given a 10K "voucher" on the purchase of another MB.
