Lighting the outside temp gauge
My outside temp gauge does not light up and I was wondering if there is a way to change the light or do you have to change the gauge itself, can anyone help with this one? Also while I'm at it where does the ashtray bulb go? I can find the bulb outlet but I don't see where the fixture fits into the ashtray.

The bulb is actually soldered into the circuit board. I found another display at the junk yard. But it turned out to be another Celcius. I have a Fahrenheit being delivered soon. Thought I would save the Celcius just in case... Occasionally you can find display replacements on Ebay too. Both types. Usually for around $45.00.
As an alternative, take the display to most electronics shops that deal in repair. They can renew your bulb for a fee.

This is not a trivial thing to do. I disassembled my gauge to repaint the needle (and I did a spare). I didn't change the bulbs because that would involve even MORE disassembly. The gauge isn't really designed to be taken apart; I worked very carefully around the metal bezel seal around the front of the lip of the gauge with a very small screwdriver, lifting only a _very_ small amount each time, until it popped off (do this on a soft surface, because the glass will also come out). If you bend too much, your work will be visible from the front of the gauge, which would be bad. From that point, removing the two rear screws will allow the "guts" to be removed. Unfortunately, the bulb is buried in the guts.
Reassembly (make sure everything is absolutely spotless, the glass, watch for dust) involved judicious tapping and pressing around the edge of the seal until it stays in place snugly. On one of the gauges (the one I used), I repainted the bezel and I didn't like the results, so I polished it (the bezel/seal is aluminum, I think) and it turned out pretty nice - matches my gauge trim rings.

Not sure if the 107 is anything like the 129 but my post #19 maybe of some assistance if it is?
Removal of ACC control panel? Fitting new lamps?

Mine has all of a sudden gone dim
 It still works and I can see it, but it used to be as bright as my digital odometer. I had a guy put an analyzer on the car for my notorious cruise control problem (many posts, no fix) and when I got it back it was dim????
