Bike Rack 129

Want to carry a bike rack on the 129. Problem is that the horizontal arm of the rack rests on the trunk lid and I am concerned over paint damage. Looking for ideas re some material that will prevent this that can be placed betwen the foam rubber material on the rack arm and the lid proper. I have looked at a number of new racks but all seem to have this potential problem. Prefer not to go to a hitch type rack Hitch would not look good on 129!! Idea?.

3m Paint protection film, should be able to buy a small amount of this from a body shop supply house. Here is a company that sells custom fit sections of it, but I'd just buy a small amount and do it yourself. Should be hardly noticeable with the rack off:

i would buy a fake chamois and stick it doubled up in beteween the car and the rack. maybe coating the chammy with some type of lubricant to keep moist but has to be agreeable to the paint. my 2 cents.
im thinking abou the same idea. will see what others come up with.

I would go with the chamois idea, but I wouldn't let it stay on long. Hopefully you will take the rack on and off as needed. It is like having a bra on your car, you should remove it when/after it rains.
