Opinion - 1984 280SL auto 86k miles
I'd like an opinion on this. It's a nice car with low miles, gold over black (my least favorite exterior color, but my favorite interior color). I can get it for $4500 or so.
I haven't done any due diligence on rust, condition, ownership history, etc., but the car shows very well - body and paint is excellent, interior seems to be excellent. Does the auto push the 280SL around enough? Is it fun to drive? What about putting a 5spd in it someday - worth it?

$4500??? Cheap!!!
As long as the due diligence turns out OK, I'd say, "Sure, why not?" Drive it and tell us what YOU think...

only tough part about converting it to stick is finding a five speed.
with a euro 280 it will scoot along even with the slush box. otherwise it is all bolt in. tom w

With no rust, it's a buy if it has a good soft top, no flat cam lobes, and no smoke.
The automatics are fun to drive if you keep the rev's up.
