Euro headlight change

To change over an 88 560sl from the standard 4light system to the euro version is there alot of wiring changes ?
Do you have to change the plug ends?
Was thinking of changing to Euro look
Wanted to know if it was worth effort
I do like the look
Strife you changed yours over
They look great

It is a simple swap, except for some rewiring needed . Some have done it themselves on this forum. I sent it to my trusted mechanic to save time.

Yes, I bought them new. They are bosch. I actually bought the last one from a local european parts store here in Michigan for $ 260. I had to order the other from Performance products, at $360.

Meanwhile, I found a complete set with the vacum level adjustment on ebay for $225! a few months ago. I also have the european market headlight switch with the adjustment wheel. I will have to replace the right amber lens which is cracked and probably the seals on both. a future restoration project since I am cleaning up a set of european bumpers to install on my 88 560 in spring....

Thanks. Seems we have good taste in cars. I also have a daily driver... A 2003 M3 coupe. The lease is up at the end of February. I will miss it . Still have 2 more BMW's in the household.

Before getting into USED euro headlights - search this board for my...uhhh..."experiences". I think that you will find them interesting.

European Headlights

Make sure you have glass lenses, not plastic. I purchased some headlight from performance plus for my 300-E with the promise I was getting factory Bosch. When I got them it was a different story a copy with plastic lens.
Go for the real thing which I am sure you have. You will need two new reseptor plugs to redue the wiring I do not remember the number but Performance plus does have them , you may also want to add cermamic h4 plug sockets that with stand hotter blub temptures. If you email me I will look up the part number Bosch An easy job.
Hope all goes well I like the orginal look of the R107 before DOT messed it up.

Just a point. I have a set of Bosch Euro's for my 107 that were brought over from Germany. Still in their original boxes which are marked "U.S. Wired". Haven't tried to put them in yet so don't know if it is significant.

Did you notice if there was any place for a 6 pin plug and also a four pin plug?
One would be male 4 pin/ turn signals and the female 6 pin

If you are refering to the light assembly itself, their is a male 6 pin and a female 4 pin tho only three pins are used.
