560sl BEHR radiator

I am planig to buy a new BEHR radiator for my 560sl. Does the new BEHR radiators have reinforced necks?

On old ones they used to brake after some time...of course the cause is mostly the engine mountings and radiator plastic neck design.

Thanks,

Balsa

I have a 10-year-old Behr radiator on my 450SL. Everything is made from steel...no plastic necks.

Your 450SL's radiator is of an older design, so it doesn't have the plastic neck like the 560SL.

I don't know if the 560SL's radiator has had a resdesign of the neck in 21 years, so it's most likely still a plastic design. Failure of it can be prevented by using either Zerex G-05 or Mercedes-Benz coolant only. Since you're gonna replace the radiator, I'd just go ahead and do a citric acid flush and switch to the proper coolant if you haven't done so.

I believe the new ones do. Ask your parts dealer he should know.
Do an entire Forum search for "Behr".

Take a look at this string.

Any opinion on which is a better buy Behr or Valeo radiator?

I think Behr since it is OEM part.

I got a 560SL Behr last summer on a fabulous deal, I haven't installed it yet. My radiator doesn't leak but I worry about a 20-year old radiator that spent a good amount of time with the wrong antifreeze. I have added a reinforcement to its neck.

The new radiator does NOT have a reinforcement.
