What problems would one encounter trying to installing an SL320 engine into a 1991 300SL?

if all you want is the larger capacity just change over the intake and it should work.if you want to keep the complete electronic injection of the sl320 then you will need donor car,all the wiring looms, all the computer modules and a good dose of patience.

Thanks Dave,
I had figured I would need a donor car. Seems like way tooooooo much effort. My pueblo biege 300SL only has 66K miles and runs and looks great. I only thought about the engine swap because I like the color not being silver, red, or black and the Sl320 engine seems to have updated injection and diagnotic systems. Would be easier to paint a newer SL500 pueblo Biege!!! sldan |

definitely. And as a w107 300sl is plesant rarity in the US, I'd be loath to mess with it that deeply just to pick up a few HP. -CTH

I would leave the 300SL alone.
If speed is what you want, get a 300CE-24 or a 560SL. |

You might check out www.oursl.com. Believe it or not, they put a nitrous rig on an older 280SL and were very happy with the results.

I belive the 300SL in question is an early 129 US version not a 107 Euro.
But speaking of a nitous 280SL, which I', not sure if its a 107 or 113. I saw a picture floating arround these pages a while back of a 113 280SL with an M100 6.3. Now that was impressive. John Roncallo |
