Start with a bottle of Techron concentrate. Perhaps 2. Follow directions on the bottle.

Stay away from platinum and stick to copper (Bosch if you can find it). There is a bit of controversy on this, but, by far, copper is what most people recommend. Also, make sure you are getinng non-resistor plugs. Last time I got some they tried to convince me that resistor plugs are ok. Don't buy it.

Have you replaced your stretched out single roller cam chain yet?

Ha... actually I just purchased the car so I'm not sure if it's been converted to a double. I have my doubts that it has. I've heard that it might be visible through the oil filler hole... is that true? If so, I'll check.

I have a receipt from the PO that 12K miles ago the chain and tensioners were replaced.

Even if they were replaced 12,000 miles ago? I thought that I would be good up to 30K.

Unfortuantely so . Actually I'm impressed with that mileage considering that:

a) It's a v-8
b) It's an automatic
c) This car weighs about 3600 lbs
d) It has the aerodynamics of a brick

A lot people like to pooh-pooh the 380 engine but at least it does get pretty decent mileage.
