Mine has a rattle at one particular frequency. I'm pretty sure it's an exhaust shield...

I had a rattle I was chasing for a while, and it turned out to be pinging. My car was set to about 20 deg BTDC, when it should be 16 +/_ 3. It would just give a bit of a rattle upon exeleration especially in the warmer weather and when the engine was very warm. I suspect it was set with the VAC line removed, where as it should be in-tact opn my engine according to the mercedes workshop manual.
I adjusted it to the lower side of the scale (13 deg BTDC) to take into account the possibility of having to fill up with a lower octane fuel. I usually use a RON 98, but somtime you don't know what they are giving you. All has been well since. good luck Damian |
