Big Brake Options for a 107

Does anyone know of any big brake kits available for the 107. Or if there is any posibility of adapting 129 components onto a 107?

brakes

Hi John

Just a thought but what year is your 107 - 'cause if you're looking at a pre 86 model perhaps the option is to upgrade to the bigger brakes and ABS on the "facelift" 86-89 107.

I've no idea if it's an easy option but it ought to be fairly simple as it's basically the same car.

Cheers
Jim

No doubt you are worried about the heavier engine you want to install, but these brakes are pretty good in terms of four pistons, swept area, and so on...braking distance will probably be greater, but it might be worth trying them out before spending a lot.

The rear brakes probably don't do that much work, and I think that they are common amongst many MB's of that era, including heavier cars.

Yes the heavier engine has been a concern. I will be weighing the engines as I remove each one to get an accurate assesment and to get a better starting point to adjust my spring rates. The M120 pulled with relative ease so I'm expecting the engine weight difference not to be too bad. Also I belive the rotors I have may be larger than those of the earlier 450SL, whcih had an iron block, so my concern is perhaps unrealistic but to be discoverd.

You might want to consider a pad upgrade. I used Porterfield R4-S,s and while a little touchy they really stop this thing.

A part number is a big help. Rears are easy because they are the same as other models, I beive the 126's

Thats the main reason I subscribe to EPConline, (startekinfo.com) You can click on a part # and it will tell you all the vehicles it applies to. Now if they would only get the rest working correctly. Keep saying "were working on it"
