R129 window issue, pls advise
Sorry for the double post, but I posted this at 9ish this AM in the SL forum -- 21 views, no replies... I have scoured the site, and only found one rather oblique reference to this issue. Can someone please advise?
Hello all, I have an issue with my recently acquired 2000 SL500 (prod. date 10/99). My driver's side window is not automatically lowering the 1/4 inch or so upon opening the door as it should . The passenger side window does. Insofar as I know, I don't have any other window faults (one-touch lower works properly, manual up and down is fine for both). I did do a search of previous threads here -- and read nearly all of the archived SL forum before I 'took the plunge'. I absolutely love my car!! Thank You very much ETA: I tried the 'resync' window trick, no luck. My search of the forum only revealed that this was a '$30 fix'....bad switch, perhaps? Please help a noob out! Defected from BMW 83 BMW 525i (German-spec honey, I how I miss you!) 86 BMW 525e (traded for the above when I was in Germany) 85 BMW 318i (US spec beater Bimmer, sold) 87 BMW 325is (US spec screamer Bimmer, sold ) 84 MBz 190E (sold) 00 MBz SL 500 (black w. xenons, heated seats, my current mistress) 06 Ford F150 (werk truck, seats designed by Marquis de Sade) |

Sorry I can't help in this instance, but maybe you would have more luck in the Tech Help section.

As Bob says there is a sensor in the door for the convenience function to work properly - part number should be A1298212551 for the left side.

Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your expertise! I shall correct the window issue soon... I enjoy driving the car very much and can't wait for the good weather returns. Some here will think I'm insane but I did drive it in the snow this weekend -yes, I've already washed it - and it performed very well, better than my non-FWD F150 would have!
