rear shock mount
What body panel is the upper mount for the rear shocks behind? I just replaced the front shocks on my 88 560SL and now need to finish with the rear shocks, but need to know where to look first.

You will need to remove the convertible top release handle on the driver side, the carpeted deck base and the plastic side panels. There are a few small screws, so you need to look for them. The panels will take a little patience to work loose out of the retaining areas. The upper mounts are a stud, and the originals have a lock nut. You will need two wrenches. A ratcheting box wrench may help. Watch out for sharp edges.
