Shopping for an SLC
I have been shopping for another benz and jumping from 1 model to the other, but always liked the SLC's.
There is now a 76 450SLC with 86K on it. Described as excellent in & out . Red with lite beige interior. asking 3995. pic;s ive seen look real good & I may fly up to inspect it this week. What I would like to know is how reliable are there mechanically ....if they are maintained? & Are they very high maintenence cars? & anythings in partiucular to have checked out since I'll probably have a mechanic look at it too. Thanks! Austin

I was thinking about you being in Fla. With the cat under the hood, these vehicles generate a LOT of heat. They will blow heat out of the vents, open or closed. You can keep the roof open, I do, but not in the rain.
I think the cats were under hood in 75-76, and then moved back in 77. But from 77 on, I think hp kept getting reduced, so that's a trade-off. With your living in Fla, I think you'd need AC on much of the time. I use my vehicle sparingly, so I don't really care much about gas mileage (mine's about 12-14mpg), but maybe some members can talk about mileage with the AC on. |
