I wouldent pay $12.9K for it at 175K miles but right now it's at $6450. I would bid on that without an inspection.

No I am not the seller. I am interested in buying a 560sl for my self to drive and like the dark grey with chrome although would prefer to get a car with less than 100k miles on it.

Anybody got a nice 560s for sale with less than 100k miles favorate silver blue and chrome wheels?

Why does everyone think a 560SL is for wealthy people. You can buy a real nice one at half the cost of a new Nissan Altima. And it wont depriciate half as fast.

******** Los Gatos, the ebay seller on this one, is a reputable bricks and mortar that's been in business for many (over 10 for sure I'm aware of) and I've personally been to their dealer in the Silicon Vally when I was looking, 10 years ago. They are a high line used exotics dealer, and are pretty experienced in finding and selling nice examples of used Mercedes. As I recall there are no bargains there, but the cars they have for sale are good ones.

One of the members here, Troy, (Luvlaw) bought a '98 600SL from them a year ago and was satisfied.

I agree, a very reasonable price for what could be a lifetime Calif. car, offered by a reputable seller.

The one thing Ive noticed about the 560SL is that at 100K miles, value drops considerably and about 150K miles, drops generally close to scrap metal. Stuff thats been reconditioned like this at 175K miles can be an extreamly good value from a drivers point of view. From a resellers point of view they are not worth looking into.

Y'know...you're popping up on more than one forum. But you won't tell us where you live or how you intend to use the car. Daily driver or weekend toy?

If, for example, you intend to import this car to Canada and drive it in wintertime, you're crazy. Don't bother to ask me how I know...I did it something similar when I was young and stupid...and yes, it involved a Texas car and Canadian winter. I was so stupid I did it 3 times. What a disaster!

So talk to us...what are your plans for this car?

Wink

Sorry, I find forums fun to post on.

My name is Kayla and Fharoah is my horses name, sily I guess but easier for me to remember using the same name.

Yes buying a convertable in S.S.I. B.C. is probablly crazy but both my father and I have always admired the 560sl.

A few years back I owned a mint 300D, black with tan interior and loved it. It ran so far on a full tank of desel. When I sold it (regretfully) I must have had like 100 calls and the car sold instantly.

Now I have a reasonable older Audi, loaded heated seats and all however after having a bit of trouble with it we are looking for an upgrade.

I am only 25. My Dad thinks I should get something fun and sporty, classy like a 560sl which he thinks is one of the nicest looking cars and the more chrome the better!

In all practicallity the Hybrid for the enviroment, the Sebring, new, reliable and economical, but not very classy.

I work out of home and am almost embarrissed to admit that I don't drive much and only put less than 10k miles a year on my car. Driving four days times a week on average, trips to the store, picking up people and occassionally going off Island.

We do have German macanics five minutes away who are experienced with Mercedes but not sure good they really are?

Yes I am probablly crazy to want a convertable in a climate that doesn't get hot enough eleven months of the year. But should that stop me?

Feedback encouraged!

Thanks so much Kayla
