Broken Sway Bar Link
Part is on order - so my question:
Can I drive with it broken (one is still connected) or will I break something else? I ask because it is 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and the alternative is, shudder, a toyota... Please help. |

When I bought my '79 450SL, one of the links was broken, and I drove it over 3000 miles that way (from Miami, FL to Battle Ground, WA) with no harm done... That's not to guarantee that yours won't work that way, but my car suffered no harm.

Busted Link
My '77 sl had a broken link as well when I bought it. I spent a lot of time looking for that clunking noise when going around corners, until I finally figured out that nothing was moving around in the trunk or loose with the exhaust and it must be the link. I didn't see any damage to the surrounding area, but it does help the feeling of the car when it is fixed.
I replaced both of them at the same time, and found that the other side was close to failure as well. An easy fix.
