Widest Wheels for a 107

I'm looking to put 17" by as wide as I can get on the back of my 560SL. I'm thinking in the neighbohood of 10.5" wide. Has anyone ever tried this.

hmmm, not sure if they make them for Mercedes fitment, but research a wheel called "Borbet Type A" They look AMAZING on older 3 series and they come in 9.5 rear. I think they would look equally sick on an old school benz.

My understanding is that spacers are needed for 17"s, and you can do a 16x9 as the widest on the back, and 16x8 widest on the front.

Only 16x8 - that's a fairly fat tire. My 16x8:

Yes my friend.

You may have an AMG 500SL
You may have a 5 speed stick
You indeed have a very cool car

But you do not have an M-120 engine

M120 into 560SL (With Pictures!)

Holy crap! I hadn't seen that thread. Does that monster breath in there? I'd think it would run hot as hell! Nice work!

The thought of putting air scavaging fans on it has crossed my mind, especially since I am now working with such fans (really big ones) for very large helicopters. I will be doing underhood temperature surveys in any case.
