1983 mercedes 500sl broken tail light

I came out to my car yesterday to find broken left rear tailight. I was looking at some part sources online and I'm now wondering if it is a different part for the euro sl's then the us version for a new tail light. Thanks for any help. Nick.

Nick,

They are all the same.

Actually, they are different. If your car kept the original lenses when it was brought over as a gray import, you will not have a red section on the side of the lense as a reflector. The amber color for the turn signals continue all around.
Seems most or all SL's imported as gray market were converted to the proper U.S. specs....

Best bet is to get the p/n off it.
And then check with the dealer. I have never priced a tail light lens but the Euro head light lens was cheaper by half at the dealer.
