Check the switch under dash that is attached to the brake pedal.

brake light on

On my 450 sl 1977. Check brake fluid level first. On master cylinder my car has a small button on line attatched to master cylinder. after checking fluid level, push this button in possible will cancel brake light. Switch on my master cylinder once had to be replaced. Next step is to check brake switch under brake pedal, and then brake roter-pads. good luck, Abe G

There is also a small switch that closes when the parking brake is on. If this is sticking, the light will stay on. It's above the hood release.
