1985 380sl 107 What the heck is going on here.

This is really messing with my brain.
The car runs so wonderful, and sounds so good, YET!!
It will just stop running, even if I'm driving along.
It won't start again until I change the ignition control box located by the left front fender.
Once I do this it will start up again and run for days at a time some time weeks and months. The ignition control box that I removed, will be the same one that I will use again when the car dies again. And around and around they go. Can some one get me off this unmerry-go-round.
Thanks

It may be a loose or bad/corroded connection that gets temporarily re-set by your changing out the box(es). In other words, you seem to have found the symptom but not the cure....

OK, let me try this direction.

Thats a new direction I really havent given much thought to. I just seem to get stuck in my head thinking its got to be related to some other electric system or relays. Ill start wiggling and jiggling some of those cables around and see if I may bring up the problem myself.
Thanks for taking a quick interest in my predicament.

The fuel pump relay is another possibility. It needs input from the ignition box to keep running.

May as well change that.

I'll change that now. Thanks for telling me there's a connection between the two parts. Thanks to this forum I can at least attack parts that may be connected to the main problem first. Instead of just guessing.
Thank you for the tip.
