560SL Hard Top Problems

I'm attempting to put my hardtop on for some cold weather driving for the first time in three years. While attempting to put top on I noticed both top chrome locknuts in center are misssing. Is there a way to lock top down without the chrome nuts? Any ticks I need to know (like socket..etc) I want to get top locked down so I can drive ASAP. Other car is having engine overhauled, I also would like to know where can these be found, purchased so I can fixed this problem for good. Thanks................

Are you referring to the locking pawls that go into the windshield header?

No the caps to the lock nuts on sides near rear of doors. I tried to fit a socket to try to lock but sockets won't fit. IS there a way to lock top down without the chrome caps that the locking tool fits into? Can these be ordered or found anywhere?

My front locks (windshield) are in great condition.

If you lock the back with the handle crank you can drive it.
Give Phil a call 1-888-333-4642 he has more than what is listed on this site.

Just for fun, call R&H here in Baltimore for a quote

I'm sure Phil can beat their price! I finally got mine for about $35 each. Dealer quoted me $325.00 (EACH!) because they are now sold in a set with the entire lockdown assembly. They even laughed when they told me the price. I have their fax posted on my wall as a reminder of the free enterprise system. PS: Dont leave them or the front removal tool in the glovebox when you take the car for service...opps!
