sl 500 inside rear view mirror

What is the trick to remove the mirror from a 1996 SL500? And does anyone know where I can locate a good used one?

Thank You

The trick is to pry/snap it out. There are pictures of how to do it in the forum archives. Do a search on rear view mirror.

Locate Rear-View Mirror

Bill, Phil Here.. I finally located a replacement Rear view Mirror for My 500SL, As all SL owners know the Mirrors are very expensive at the dealers and very hard to find in the salvage yards. I got lucky by calling: Randy @ Stockton Auto Parts, 209-929-3905. Randy stocks and dismantles many 500 SL's, I got my Mirror and even in the color that I needed. Stockton Salvage is Great to work with and will bend over backwards to satisfy you needs. They have a web site. www.stocktonauto.com but you are better off calling Randy direct

Bill:

I also need a new mirrow. What did he charge for yours. PS, You need to get a death grip on it and yank down like you hate it, just snaps out...

Ron Conrad, Phil Here. My Used mirror came from Stocktons Auto, It cost me 175.00 plus 25.00 for shipping. I got the right Color and it was " Plug and Play" See above Post for Stockton's Location.
