springs and shocks 1984 280sl

the ride height on my 1984 280sl is lower on the drivers side....is this caused by shocks or springs or both ??

and, what would anyone recommend as replacements,please

Can't help with the uneven ride height, although this is a feature of my w107 380SLC and my r129 SL500: odd. However, I put Bilstein shocks into my 380 and transformed the ride and handling for very little expense. I'm not sure I'd bother changing the springs, unless you think they are responsible for the uneven ride height.

Shock absorbers do just that...absorb shock. Your ride height is the responsibility of the springs. Lower on the drivers side could be a number of things. Subframe bushings and a broken spring come to mind.

It could also be that someone at one time replaced a spring with one of a different height, or more likely, if the height difference is small, that one of the upper spring pocket rubber rings is a different thickness, or missing.
