So I found out about the SRS light

My SRS light has been staying on for about 2 minutes after I start the SL. Information I got on the site here seemed to point toward a seat belt switch and yesterday it was confirmed by a trip to my Indy. When he ran the scan tool, he showed me it said,,, Drivers seat belt switch. Will probably be a royal PITA if I have to pull the seat out though.

Jim, great site!! I just spent about an hour reading LOL
The light is on as well on our '95 C car, stays on about 30 seconds after each start up. I'll give that a try too

It has worked for me and still working. Seemed just like yesterday but it's been over 2-1/2 yrs.

It's worth a try since you don't have anything to loose if it doesn't work.

Pili, glad you like the site. . . .

Make sure that the plug on the underside of the seat is plugged in...

The Eibachs are going on this weekend Justin. I already have the 500E rear sway bar and 17" AMG Monos. I'm on top of that. BTW,,, where is that rear spoiler ?

So I put the new seat belt switch in today and it was amazingly easy. I thought I would have to pull the seat out, but, Mercedes, in their infinite wisdom, allows you to remove the lower seat cushion without removing the whole seat. A very intuitive replacement. I just hope it lasts.

Can you provide details on removing the lower seat cushion without removing the entire seat?
Thanks.

There are two 10mm headed bolts under the front of the seat,,, move the seat all the way back, you will see them. In order to pull the bottom cushion out the whole way, there is a rear trim panel that has two phillips headed screws that need to be removed. They are also accessed from the front of the seat back. This needs removed to unplug part of the wiring harness. After the lower cusion is out it will all be very plain.
