1985 380 SL ABS Problem

I have a 1985 380 SL. The ABS "fault" light comes on as soon as the car moves 5 mph or so. Can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this ABS system? Are there any hidden fuses or relays that could cause this problem. I tested th brakes in the rain; the ABS does NOT work.

Check the sensors for built up residue, and make sure the rotor serrations are clean, for a start. Should be one on each front wheel, and one rear one at the right of the differential IIRC. Check wiring harness and connections. The service manual has test procedures for the sensors and other components..
