Dash Bulbs 88 560 SL
All,
I am in the middle of some radio repairs and found some broken bulbs behind the climate controls in my 88 560 SL. They are frosted white, small (like q-tip ends) and appear to be fixed in the socket. Anyone know: 1. are the bulbs & sockets 1 piece? 2. if separate where do I get them, what are they called? Thanks, John

No, the bulbs come out. Get them from your local MB dealer because the comparable size you'll find in an auto parts store are rated too high so they put out more heat than the OEM bulb.

I was able to replace all my bulbs using parts from autozone. The turn signal, head light, seatbelt lights are different then the climate controls, shift indicator and tach/speedo/multi gage, but all of them are tapered and can pull right out of their sockets, be sure you get the correct wattage. .its probably a good idea to clean all your contacts when you are in there. . .
its amazing how well your cluster can look if you spend some time, disassemble the whole thing clean the gauges and the clear cover. . 20-30 years of dirt, even on a relatively clean example can make things look dull. . another good idea that I found was to clean the black plastic bezel with alcohol and spray it with clear spray paint, lightly as to avoid bubbles. .it gives it a nice gloss shine. . .try the same thing to your grill, my results were AMAZING. . .
