sl500 kickdown issue

I have run into a problem with my sl not downshifting when the gas pedal is fully pressed. Kickdown switch only puts the car into 1st gear when moving from standstill.
When normal driving, the car just gradually increases in speed and cycles through the gears.

I changed the tranny fluid and filter just to be sure. At the control module, I noticed this wire was not connected to anything and am unsure of its purpose.

Any ideas, with regard to the system

I am getting 5 v power when ignition on and shifter in "b" position at the connector here...so i guess it is the solenoid connector which is to the rear which I will check next..

Was asked to apply 12v directly to solenoid and see if it engages-but I already ordered the part-is supposed to be a simple 10 min job to switch out the solenoid.

no-just D, 3, 2B. I am also noticing a slip between 2nd and 3rd gear especially when the car is cold, but it is getting more apparent? This semms to go away after car warms up?

This all occured after an accident to front end, all has been repaired and car has driven over 1000 miles.

Replaced Solenoid...but no cruising downshift

Replaced solenoid, car is more responsive when at rest and the button is pressed on the gas pedal which forces 1st gear start-however it still does not down shift when cruising on the highway and the gas button is pressed?

Talking Car back to normal next day

The car is back to normal, and kickdown is working through all the gears. I guess the computer just needed to refresh or something.
