AC miracle!

It’s a miracle! I have had a 1990 SL500 for about 2 years. The AC never worked. My indy wanted no part of it after an hour of diagnosis. While at the dealership for a few minor items I had them look at the AC system. When they presented me with a laundry list of parts and a $4600 estimate I resigned myself to living with no AC. I told myself I only needed it a few days of the year because I drive with the top down and could use my other cars of it was that hot.

Two weeks ago it was hot. Just playing around while driving I flipped on the AC. ICE COLD, blowing strong. I thought “eh, just an aberration”. I tried it a few times since, it’s like an Artic Winter. I have always heard the AC in these cars were problems and were weak.

I don’t know why it started to work and I don’t want to give it a kin a hura ( jinx) but…it’s a miracle!

If it goes out again, at least you know there's no leak.

The AC Goddess, "Frionesta" looked down upon you and figured you had suffered enough, especially with an estimate like that and figured you deserved the AC.....

I have had some similar quirks with the SL, but the problem usually fixes itself the next time I start the car.

Well could be the same problem I had with my 1990.

Although yours could be an actual problem, vs a loose nut behind the wheel.

AC had worked fine whenever I used it, took it out to Cinnci last year, needed the AC briefly more for defrosters in the rain.
It didn't work, I was PO'd, but busy driving.

When I get there I realize I had it in Econo Mode, no AC !!!!

Works fine if ya push the switch off !!!

miracle

Brought a Rolex into the jeweler because it wasnt running. Jeweler had the watch for 10 days told me it would be $500 to fix it, I told them to forget it and return the watch. I went in to pick it up and it was running, set it when I got out to the car and its been keeping perfect time now for over 2 years!!!!
Go figure, maybe the same gremlin fixed your A/C
