Inside trunk lid clip?
In an effort to keep my 1990 500sl as close to perfect as I can, What is this clip for? Inside the trunk lid, one black plastic clip. It looks like 1/2 inch wide and something snaps into it. Wind screen holder? Umbrella? Fire extinguisher?

If it's on the lid near the bottom with the lid open, it's to insert the black plastic starp that holds the spare tire cover open. A picture would help if this isn't what you are discussing.

Bet Lee got it right, I thought originally it was for an air pressure guage.
But then lifted up the spare cover and there is this nifty hook/strap to hold the darn thing outta the way when working in there !!!!
