Storage shelf behind seats

Greetings All ~
We've been working on an "84 380SL that we just bought. Shift bushings, throttle linkage, steering coupler. No sweat.

What has us stumped is how to open the storage hatch behind the seats. Seems to have two handle points, but we can't figure this one out.

Can someone please tell me how to open this hatch?

Thanks!

It's not actually a hatch and there's no storage under it (at least no intended storage). It's simply the floor of the cargo area. If you do need to remove it for some reason, IIRC one lifts the back and it comes up.

A couple of clips hold it down along the front edge...I was looking at a 1981 380SL today and lifted the shelf to see if there was any body rot underneath. Lift from the hand cut-outs, one side first and then the other.
