94 sl, resistance connector opened

On the ignition module , there is a plug called the resistance trimming conector. What is it and what does it do? Mine opened(as measured with a meter) and the car barely runs. Did this failure set a code as no lights came on the dash. Ran perfect before this happened. Thanks for the help. I'm not yelling, it's just easier to see in all capitols.

I believe it sets the degree of advance / retard ignition timing. Do a forum search on "ignition resistor".
