Sorry...

Well after a long search for an 'affordable' SL, I gave up and bought a cheapie 1987 BMW 325 convertible instead. It's got issues but hopefully none that I can't fix myself. I'm sure there are plenty of BMW owners with a wealth of excelent advice and experience on here but I'll get flagged if I keep bugging you all with BMW questions.

Can someone recommend a BMW forum that's as good as this one?

There's no such thing. BMW forums only do two subjects - performance chips and bigger wheel swaps. Other than that they are an intellectual vacuum.

Ooh...that's not good. Is there any way I can pick peoples brains on here about BMW issues without upsetting the mediators?

You're probably better off on the BMW forums. I was just kidding but it is true that a) they've got chips and wheels down pat, and b) on general repairs they are nowhere near the quality of this site.

That's a shame. I know how much time and money I saved on repairs to my old 300E with the help of the folks on here. I'm guessing there a few ShopForum members that have or have had BMW's too - maybe we could start a new forum on here for non-MB issues!

My dad picked up an 84 325i convertible when he retired. He said I'd "inspired" him with my 450SL. Both yours and his are the E30 model.

He likes this forum:

E30 is a great car, I think you will enjoy it. Get rid of those huge bumpers and fit a set of Euro Bumpers on it and it will look as good as it goes.

Thanks Scott...that site looks a lot like this one. Hopefully it will prove to be as valuable...

alabbassi...the bumpers don't look too overwhelming but I'm sure the european ones would look better.

That's a Euro!

This is what period US spec E30 bumpers look like:

Oh, well I have to agree then, the car looks much better with the euro bumpers. I wonder if a previous owner swapped them out on my car or if it's grey market...there's another convertible in my neighborhood of the same vintage and it has the euro bumpers too. Coincidence?
