1984 380SL Stalling when hot then not starting until cool

I everyone, I have a 1984 380SL and the other day I drove it to the gas station to get air in the tires. I placed it in park and it just stalled out and would not start again. There is plenty of cranking power (new battery) it just will not start unitl it cools down. It takes about an hour or so. It was hot out, about 105 in Phoenix.

Since I am new to the MB Forum and Mercedes in general I could really use some help. I am definitely mechanically inclined, I just need a couple of starting point and a general direction.

Thanks for your help,

Rodney
