Way beyond what I wanted to tackle also. But after having bought the car and having put a few grand into it with a new soft top and other repairs I had to keep moving forward. Believe me when I first pulled out the blower motor and saw the rust damage my heart just sunk.

I've found that the main difference in the blower units is the wiring harness and the case. I believe, however, that the motor is the same. So you can remove the old unit from the case and unsolder the two wires that supply power to the motor. Remove the new motor from the case and do the same. Then solder the old harness to the new motor, and put the new motor in the old case. I have done this at least twice.

Unfortunately, I broke the case getting the motor out to lubricate it. I pried off the two clips at the center using a screw driver. On flew off into a patch of English ivy and I've been unable to fine it. And one of the plastic lips where the clips lock top and bottom together broke. I don't have the proper tool to open the center clips. The motor bearings are pretty well rusted anyway. My best bet is a whole blower unit including case and regulator. I'm still looking.

Sorry to be so slow responding. I don't think your blower will work. It's part number is 107-830-02-83. My part # is 107-830-03-83. Apparently the difference is in the regulator wiring harness. I do appreciate your follow up.

'87 heater blower assembly
I'm still looking. Adsit is a bit steep for me. I did find a blower as partsonnet.com, but when I got the unit, today, it was only the motor and air mover, and did not included the case or controller, which I need. I'm still working with them to get the correct blower assembly but I have my doubts that it will work out.
