vin number problems
I have tried to use Carfax to get a history of my "74 450 SL, but my vin number is only 14 digits and the web page wants to see 17 digits. I read somewhere that the letters WDB should be added to the front of the vin number and I tried that to no avail. Does anyone out there have any ideas about this problem??? As always any help would be greatly appreciated.................Thanks............Dan

Carfax makes no claim to having any data on pre-1981 cars.

My "74 450 SL shows 47,000 miles on it and I was wondering if that was really the true mileage. Is there another source for title research that might provide some insight into my true mileage???

Odometer
I have a 1978 SL and after fixing an intermitant odometer I wouldn't trust them at all. I could have set mine to any milage I wanted to, they are very easy to "adjust". I should have set it to 000000 but I left it as I found it.
