Gas Smell in Exhaust - Running Rich? '75 450SL

I am .. and have been getting a heavy Gas smell from the exhaust on my 1975 450SL. I put in a new Air Pump, didn't help. Injectors were rebuily about 1,000 miles ago.

Also - any good shops in Buffalo, NY area? I could use some help.

Any suggestions?

Check your coolant temp, air temp, and manifold pressure sensors, and make sure your cold start valve is not leaking. These are easy tests.

If you send me an email, I will send you a diagnostic guide for D-Jet.

Black Smoke

At idle and on acceleration I have black smoke. Enough to show up on the ground if I let idle for a minute or so

The sensor that has the greatest effect on the mixture is the temp sensor. I'd check it against the resistance charts to see if it's anywhere close. Also, make sure it's wiring is viable.
