87, 560SL, heater blower regulator

I'm going nuts trying to find the correct blower motor. replacement. I have a replacement in hand but I'm question whether it will work. Here's my question. The original blower part number is 107-830-03-83, which has an 8-pin regulator connection. The one I received has 7 pins. What is the operational difference between the 7 & 8 pin regulator operation? I'm afraid to try the 7-pin in my car for fear of blowing something.. I'm hoping it will work but it probably won't and I don't want to damage the blower preventing it's return..

Edity I may be using the wrong term when I say "regulator." I'm referring to the connector that connects the blower motor to the climate control harness under the hood.

Try this link, esp post 7

I believe he's referring to a 2pin connector at the motor.

Call me a nut case, but I was wrong about the "regulator" pin number. I was relying on memory (big mistake) but decided I'd get the old blower and make a visual comparison. Surprise! My original blower has a 7-pin connector as does the replacement blower. I'm assuming at this point that the blower will work in my '87, 560SL, though I have not installed it yet. I'll do that in the next day or two.

I installed the blower, this morning, and it doesn't work, though it appears to be a near new blower. I think I may have a related electrical problem, however. After trying to start the blower a few times, the blower worked, momentarily. Then I shut it off, and when I tried starting it again, it wouldn't work. Is there another component in the a/c-heating system that will interrupt the blower operation? The fuses are okay (in fact I replaced them all about a month ago, and I recently replace the climate control unit, The a/c-heating system was working fine until the old blower stopped. The other thing is that we've had a lot of rain the last few days, When it rains hard I have a difficult time starting the SL. That was particularly hard, today, So, I'm wondering if there is something under the hood that may interrupt the blower electrical connection.

On the 560, blower speed is controlled by a relay located behind the glove box. If everything else works correctly, like the flaps move and compressor comes on, then I would suspect the relay.
